Create a B2B customer journey map for enterprise SaaS

About the framework

Follow an enterprise purchase through its handoffs

Five main columns cover Problem Aware, Solution Research, Evaluation, Purchase, and Onboarding. They move from an operations pain point and vendor research to demos, security review, procurement, contract negotiation, and customer-success support. Each column includes an emotion label.

A separate touchpoint strip runs from LinkedIn ads through the onboarding portal to a QBR and renewal email. Renewal appears in that strip, but has no dedicated stage. The vendor counts and three-week legal review are sample assumptions, not measured buying-cycle benchmarks.

Adapt the map around one buying account. Identify the champion, technical reviewer, procurement contact, and budget approver, then add the evidence each needs before the next handoff.

Frequently asked questions

Common questions

Does the map include a full renewal stage?

No. Renewal appears as the final email in the touchpoint strip. Ask for a separate stage to cover usage review, negotiation, and the renewal decision.

How does the example handle multiple decision-makers?

It names procurement and CFO approval, but does not create separate role lanes. Add the people involved in your deal and their decision criteria.

Is the legal review duration a benchmark?

The three-week label is an illustrative entry without supporting data. Replace it with your own observed review time.
