Map the customer onboarding journey for a SaaS product from signup to first value
About the framework
Signup, Welcome, Setup, First Use, and Aha Moment are connected in sequence. Each stage has one touchpoint, one emotion, and one pain entry. The example highlights excessive signup fields, generic welcome content, too many setup options, and a learning curve at first use.
The final stage pairs a first result with delight and a claim that the customer now understands the value. That is the example’s intended outcome, not evidence that every user reaches it. There are no conversion rates, elapsed times, or detailed action lists.
Make the last stage concrete for your product: describe the result a new customer wants. Work backward to identify the minimum setup and first-use steps, then add observed blockers and the help available at each step.
