Create a skills assessment radar chart comparing two engineering candidates
About the framework
This skills assessment radar chart plots two sample engineering candidates on the same six axes: System Design, Coding, Problem Solving, Communication, Leadership, and Domain Knowledge. The translucent profiles make differences across those criteria visible without reducing the comparison to one overall score.
Candidate A has scores of 9, 8, 8, 6, 5, and 7 in that order. Candidate B has 6, 7, 7, 9, 8, and 8. A scores higher on the first three criteria, while B scores higher on the last three. Each axis has a maximum of ten. These are illustrative ratings, not measurements of real applicants.
Before adding your own scores, define what each rating means and use the same evidence standard for every person. Read the individual axes alongside interview or work-sample notes. The polygon's area is not a validated hiring score, and the chart does not assess candidates for you.

Frequently asked questions
Yes. Supply the new axis names, the maximum score, and one value per axis for each profile. Keep the axis order consistent so every score maps to the intended criterion.
The shape reflects the supplied ratings and axis arrangement. Compare individual criteria against the role requirements and supporting evidence rather than choosing by area.
Replace candidate names with a current profile and a target profile. Add ratings based on the same rubric, then use the gaps to discuss specific learning goals.
