Describe the whole

Name what the total represents and provide a value for each category. Paste a breakdown or attach a document containing the figures you want to plot.

02

Watch the slices appear

The assistant turns the category values into proportional slices and labels the chart. Each slice shows one category’s share of the total you supplied.

Refine, then export

Ask to correct a value, shorten a label or combine small categories. Check the total, then export PNG for free or PDF with Pro.

What is a pie chart?

A pie chart divides a circle into slices that represent parts of one whole. Each slice’s size is proportional to its category’s value, so the chart shows how the total is split.

When to use one

Budget shares, time allocation and survey answers with one choice per person: use a pie chart for a small set of parts that add up to one total. Use a bar chart for close comparisons or a line chart for change over time.

What a good pie chart looks like

  1. One clearly named whole, with a title that states what is being divided and for which period.
  2. Categories that do not overlap, so the same amount is never counted in two slices.
  3. Nonnegative values from the same total, using the same units for every category.
  4. Few enough slices to label clearly. Combine tiny categories only when that grouping makes sense.
  5. Labels that identify each share, with percentages checked against the source values and total.

How MyMap builds it

The assistant reads your category names and values, calculates their shares and draws a labeled pie chart on the canvas. Ask in chat to change the data or group smaller slices. Supply actual figures when the chart is meant to report actual results.

Common questions

Is the pie chart maker free?

You can create a pie chart and export it as PNG for free. PDF export is available with Pro.

Do I need to enter exact numbers?

Provide category values when you want a chart of actual results. You can ask for an illustrative breakdown without exact figures, but label it as an estimate and replace those values before using it to report data.

Can I use this for presentations or reports?

Yes. Export PNG for free or PDF with Pro to include the chart in a report or presentation. Check the category values and labels before exporting.
