Create a concept map for the theory of evolution
About the framework
Theory of Evolution is the center of this branching map. Four main branches cover Natural Selection, Adaptation, Speciation, and Evidence. Nineteen leaf topics range from variation and reproductive advantage to allopatric speciation, fossils, comparative anatomy, and DNA evidence.
A Mechanisms subsection containing mutation, gene flow, and genetic drift is nested beneath Natural Selection in the example. That placement groups revision topics but should not imply that all three are forms of natural selection. The sample is a topic hierarchy, without labeled causal links or a worked population example.
To deepen the lesson, move evolutionary mechanisms into parallel branches and add a population scenario for each. Keep evidence of evolution separate from explanations of how a population changes so students can distinguish observations from mechanisms.

Frequently asked questions
No. The sample nests both within the same study area, but drift and selection are distinct mechanisms. Ask to reorganize them as parallel branches for a clearer comparison.
No. It organizes evolution topics rather than relationships among species. Use a separate cladogram for a branching ancestry exercise.
Start with the allopatric, sympatric, reproductive isolation, and adaptive radiation entries. Add one course example to each and explain what separates the populations in that case.
