What is a Cumulative Flow Diagram?
A cumulative flow diagram (CFD) is a stacked area chart that visualizes the total number of work items in each stage of a workflow over time. It is one of the most powerful diagnostic tools in agile and lean project management.
Each colored band represents a workflow state — typically Backlog, In Progress, Review, and Done. The vertical height of each band shows how many items are in that state at any point in time.
