Create an ER diagram for a school management system with Student, Teacher, Course, Enrollment, and Grade entities
About the framework
This school database ER diagram models five entities: STUDENT, TEACHER, COURSE, ENROLLMENT, and GRADE. Enrollment connects a student to a course, and Grade points to an enrollment. That structure lets you discuss a score in the context of both the student and the course rather than attaching it to a student alone.
The example includes UUID primary keys and the foreign keys used by those relationships. Course holds teacher_id and semester; Grade holds assignment_name, score, max_score, and graded_at. Student includes grade_level, while Teacher has a department field. Guardian contacts, teacher specializations, and a grade-level semester or assessment-type field are not present.
Use this as a model to review before implementation. Decide how your school represents course offerings, repeated enrollments, co-teaching, and grading rules, then request the entities and constraints those decisions require. The diagram illustrates a schema; it does not create a database or enforce its rules.

Frequently asked questions
Enrollment identifies the student-course pairing in the sample. Linking Grade there places each assignment score in that context rather than directly under a student.
The sample Course has one teacher_id. To represent multiple teachers, ask for a junction entity and define whether teaching assignments belong to the course itself or a term-specific offering.
It is a starting model. You still need to define constraints, access rules, retention requirements, and any missing entities for your application, then implement and test the database separately.
