Create an activity diagram for an online order process
About the framework
This activity diagram starts with an online order and asks whether payment is valid. The Yes branch leads through Confirm Order, Pick & Pack Items, Ship Order, and Deliver to Customer before reaching End. The No branch leads to Reject Order. There are nine nodes and eight connections.
The sample uses circles for start and end, rectangles for actions, and a diamond for the payment decision. It is a simple UML-style flow: there are no swimlanes or parallel activities, and Reject Order has no outgoing connection.
Adapt it by specifying what happens after a declined payment. Add a retry, cancellation, or separate end state, then include any stock checks or fulfillment handoffs needed for your ordering process.

Frequently asked questions
The supplied flow stops at Reject Order without connecting it to End. Ask for a cancellation end state or payment retry to make that branch explicit.
No. The successful path is sequential. You could request a fork for tasks such as preparing a shipment and sending a confirmation, then define where they rejoin.
Replace picking, packing, and shipping with account provisioning or file delivery. Keep the payment decision and specify what access is granted after confirmation.
