What is a mind map?

What a good mind map looks like

1. A center that names the scope, such as a course, place or project rather than several unrelated subjects.
2. Branch names at a similar level, keeping broad themes beside other broad themes.
3. Details attached to their closest theme, so a reader can follow a branch without guessing why a note belongs there.
4. Crowded branches split into smaller groups, giving long collections of notes a readable structure.
5. Overlapping labels combined. Keep separate branches only when they cover different parts of the topic.
